WACO, TX September 25, 2012 — Vanguard College Preparatory School today announced that for the first time since the private school was founded in 1973, it will offer its alumni and current student body all the pomp and circumstance associated with a homecoming celebration.
“Last year, Vanguard fielded its first six-man varsity football team in the school’s history,” said Bill Borg, Vanguard’s Head of School. “This year, it seemed only fitting that the full homecoming experience be offered to its students and alumni in celebration of the Vanguard.”
Vanguard’s first homecoming celebration will kickoff with a pep rally from 1:25pm to 1:45pm on Friday, September 28 at the school’s gym located at 2517 Mount Carmel Drive, Waco, TX.
Then on Saturday, September 29, the celebration continues with tailgating, music, food and fun in the school parking lot from 4pm to 6:15pm. Everyone will then depart for the football field behind Parkview Christian Academylocated at
1100 E. Lake Shore Drive in Waco for the 7pm kickoff of the contest pitting the Vanguard Vikings against Bell County ECHO. The crowning of Vanguard’s first Homecoming Queen and the naming of a Princess from each of Vanguard’s 7th-12th grade classes will take place at halftime. A dance back at Jaworski Hall on the campus of Vanguard will follow the game.
“While excellence in academics has always been stressed above athletics at Vanguard, we are delighted to be able to offer our students this homecoming experience,” said Borg. “We invite everyone from former students, teachers and just fans of the game to come out and have a great time at this historic event for the school.”
