As underclassmen, parents, faculty and staff awaited the arrival of the traditional Senior Class Caravan before school on the first day, everyone enjoyed reuniting with old friends and introducing themselves to new friends. Thirty new students enrolled at Vanguard for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Twenty-nine new students gathered on campus on Tuesday, August 17, for New Student Orientation. Student Council members, Peer Facilitators, faculty and staff greeted them as they arrived for a pizza lunch in the Jaworski Center. Mr. Bill Borg, head of school, introduced each new student and announced the Peer Facilitators assigned to them.
Is there anywhere on earth you’d rather be than Vanguard? If “yes” isn’t your answer, Head of School Bill Borg is out to change your mind. All faculty and staff gathered on Monday, August 16, to kick off a new school year during an all-day retreat.
Mr. Borg challenged each faculty and staff member to create an atmosphere of “Another Day in Paradise” not only for every student who comes to Vanguard to learn, but also for every staff member who comes to Vanguard to teach and work.
Killeen Stonetree Golf Course was the site of an event unprecedented in TAPPS athletic history. The Vanguard Golf team captured a 6th straight State TAPPS Golf title. The team of Carter Caldwell, Ian Lovett, Riley DuPuy, Riley DeWitt, and Will Bauer led the team to victory with sophomore Carter Caldwell capturing the individual medalist honors.
