Talk with Students

The Student Council will host a pancake breakfast 9:45-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the Jaworski Center on the school campus. Cost is $3.00 per plate. Student Council members are hoping the aroma of maple syrup and their delicious confections will boost sales and attract customers from the community. Proceeds will be used to purchase food for the Caritas canned food drive.

Dylan Losey, a Vanguard senior, received the National Forensics League Academic All-American award on November 11. He is one of only 100 students nationwide to receive the award.

To be eligible, a student must be an NFL member with an earned degree of Superior Distinction – 750 points on record in the National Office. Recipients must have a 3.7 minimum GPA out of 4.0 (or its equivalent), an ACT score of 27 or higher and/or SAT score of 1400 or higher (SAT tests taken after 3/1/05 – 2000 or higher). In addition, the student should demonstrate qualities of character, leadership and commitment, as verified by both his debate coach and the principal of his school.

Richelle Braswell, grade 9, attended the National Young Leaders State Conference in Dallas. She was nominated by teachers at Vanguard.  Attached is a pictures of her with one of her faculty advisors.

Henry Boehm, grade 7, received his Star Rank in Boy Scouts  with Court of Honor for Troop 308.

Joe Schwartz, grade 8, was on the Waco Storm Team which won the Riverbend Fall Select Baseball Tournament.
