What do you like most about Vanguard?
The trust between students and staff is great. When a new student arrives at Vanguard, they are trusted and treated well, even at the start. Changing schools and coming to Vanguard allows any student to get a fresh start, as well as a new outlook on academics.
Do you believe Vanguard is different from other schools in Waco?
Vanguard is unique. The teachers here all seem to care about your learning experience as a whole, not just test grades.
Vanguard’s motto is “Rigor, Respect, Responsibility.” What does this mean to you?
To me, this motto shows the importance of character building morals at Vanguard. It also shows people that the school is willing to change. This motto tells the community what we strive for.
Colton Treadwell,
Vanguard Class of 2012

What do you like most about Vanguard?
Freedom!
Do you believe Vanguard is different from other schools in Waco?
Vanguard is very different! Instead of a rigid, prison-like atmosphere, it has a family-like atmosphere that makes learning easier and more fun.
Vanguard’s motto is “Rigor, Respect, Responsibility.” What does this mean to you?
To me, the motto means you have the ability to do all the rigorous work, the responsibility to take of the repercussions of your actions, and the respect to follow authority.
Evan Paul,
Vanguard Class of 2014
What do you like most about Vanguard?
Vanguard has given me the opportunity to be who I want to be and what I want without the fear of judgment or exclusion. Whether I want to play five varsity sports, have class outside, or weld a table, there’s always something for me to do. I feel the teachers are truly approachable and I love that they don’t know me just as a name or a number, but they know me and my personality.
Do you believe Vanguard is different from other schools in Waco?
Yes. I hear all the time from friends who go to other schools about how they dread school. Vanguard is different. In the late summer, I even feel myself longing to return back to the unique atmosphere and environment that Vanguard offers.
Vanguard’s motto is “Rigor, Respect, Responsibility.” What does this mean to you?
Vanguard’s rigorous curriculum helps prepare students for a higher education and, more importantly, for life. Our responsibility to self-motivate and be independent has given me the maturity needed to be successful in the “real world”. The relationship between student and teacher in which each respects the other allows for a truly unique situation, where a teacher is less of an authority figure and more of a leader we can seek for advice and knowledge.

Class of 2011
