ACADEMIC AND SPORTS SUMMER CAMPS

Vanguard Summer Camps promote creative learning and are led by the talented Vanguard Faculty, Coaches, Alumni, and Parents, as well as local qualified teachers. Each camp is one week and camp leaders are specialists in their fields.

Camps are available to children ranging from ages 3 – 12, have a wide range of sports, arts, and academic subjects to choose from, and our Vanguard teachers, coaches, and counselors are there every step of the way to make the learning fun!

Careful consideration goes into the planning of the summer camp schedule to ensure a challenging, yet enjoyable experience for all participants. Children from all schools are encouraged to attend Vanguard camps.

All camps run from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon with a snack provided. 

  • Cost: $115 per child
  • ***Multiple Sibling/Multiple Camp Discount $95 per child-per week. 

After Care is available from 12 noon – 2:00 p.m, lunch not provided

  • Cost: $50/week per child-per week, $15/daily drop-in

June 1st -5th

After Care is for all campers! It will be facilitated each week by Mrs. Angela Antis. Activities include:

Music is for everyone! This class helps toddlers and young children develop their aural and musical skills by singing, dancing, tapping, and rhyming. Additional activities include some art and story time. Intended for ages 3-6. Parents are welcome (but not required) to participate.

This is a Vanguard Favorite! The campers play multiple sports, do obstacle courses and problem-solving adventures.

Go Vikings! Cheer with the Vanguard cheerleaders and learn what school spirit truly means!

Vanguard Tennis Coach, Greta Knoll, will be instilling campers with the fundamentals of tennis and the love of the game.

Campers will be introduced to multiple forms of media and ways of art making! This camp will focus on skills and techniques through various materials. Your camper will learn basic art-making methods and then expound upon their creations. Our goal is to tap into their creativity to teach them how to make amazing works of art. We may get messy, so dress accordingly!

June 8th - 12th

This camp features an introduction to Typing and Technology. This is a great way for kids to have fun with typing and technology through educational computer games.

***This camp will be capped at 20 campers.

Vanguard Tennis Coach, Greta Knoll, will be instilling campers with the fundamentals and the love of the game.

Campers will be working on writing stories and using words in creative ways to open the imagination and improve storytelling and writing skills.

June 15th - 19th

The love of reading unfolds. Campers will be introduced to many books from many genres. There will be a focus on story elements such as plot, setting, and character development. Campers will share their favorite book at the end of the week!

This camp is designed to teach young beginner and intermediate Campers the basic concepts of drumline applications and music knowledge. Campers will learn how to read music, count, and work as a team.

Location: Jaworski Administration Building – Music Room

Vanguard is known for Basketball! Come learn basketball fundamentals. Campers will be divided by age to maximize instruction.

June 22nd - 26th

July 6th - 10th

Open to girls and boys, this camp will be an introduction to volleyball fundamentals and skills. Campers will be divided by age and/or skill level to maximize instruction.

Location: Mayborn Classroom

Have you always wanted to learn to sew but didn’t know where to start? Join this Introduction to Sewing camp to learn the basics of choosing fabrics, reading patterns, cutting pieces, and using sewing machines. Materials and sewing machines are provided, and campers get to keep all the items to make!

***Camp to be capped at 14 Campers

Location: Brown Academic Building, College Command Center

July 13th - 17th

Location: Vanguard Gym

This is for the young Botanist! An interactive camp where kids will learn about ecosystems and the different plants from around the world. Campers will play games, craft, and learn about the field of botany. You can anticipate a field trip to Lake Waco Wetlands to further their studies and exploration.

Instructor: Vanguard Parent & University High School Biology Teacher, Lee Kuhl

Location: Mayborn Building

In this camp, we’ll explore what yoga is all about through nature walks, short meditations, creating our own journals, coloring projects, fun games and of course doing some yoga!  Campers will come away with a new perspective on connecting with themselves, their community, and the world around them.

July 20th - 24th

This is the beginning of the creative process for your children, but it’s not just the basics. We’ll take preschool art to the next level with activities that expand their minds from the basics of painting and gluing.

Location: Jaworski Administration Building

Boys and girls will work on footwork, passing, and developing a stronger position knowledge and game strategy. General soccer terms will be implemented. Competition and game-like situations will be utilized. Campers will be grouped by age and experience to maximize instruction.

Location: Vanguard Gym, Mountainview Park

An interactive camp where kids will learn about ecosystems and animals from around the world. Campers will play games, do craft, and get to meet exotic animals each day from the major families of the animal kingdom. Campers can anticipate a field trip to Lake Waco Wetlands to further their studies and exploration.

Location: Mayborn Building Classroom

Disc Golf camp will introduce players to the fundamentals of disc golf playing styles and the rules of the game. Campers will hone their skills at Vanguard’s very own baskets and will also take field trips to local disc golf courses at Cameron Park, Brazos Park East, and Woodway Park.

July 27th - July 31st

Explore the prehistoric ages by learning about an assortment of dinosaurs through videos, art, and games.

Location: Jaworski Administration Building

This camps will feature a different sport each day – Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Track, and will finish off with the Vanguard Olympics.

2020 Summer Camps

Each camp is $115

Attend more than one camp (or more than one child per camp) and the price is $95 per child, per camp.
Cost $50 per week per child. Contact Kayla Kuhl for drop-in fees.
Cost $115 per week per child. Multiple Sibling and Multiple Camp Discount of $95 per child per camp. Camps must have at least 10 campers to make. Select camps will be capped once spaces are filled.

Please note: No nuts will be served for snacks. Please note any and ALL allergies.

The undersigned parent/guardian of the Vanguard camper does hereby release and discharge the curators of Vanguard College Preparatory School and its representatives, employees, and agents from any and all debts, claims, demands, actions, damages, causes of action, judgments, or suits of any kind which may arise or be occasional as a result of the camper’s participation in the Vanguard Summer Camp programs and hereby agree to have and indemnify and hold harmless the curators of Vanguard College Preparatory School, its representatives, employees, and agents against any and all liability, claims, judgments, or demands for damages arising as a result of any course instruction given to the camper.
