The HS Basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday for their first district competition of the year, as they traveledto McKinney Christian. The JV Boys saw a back and forth game all night, but had the lead late and were able to hang on 43-41. Uriel Ibarra led all scorers in the game with 22 points. The Varsity Boys jumped out to an early lead, but McKinney came back and forced a tough battle that needed OT to decide the final outcome. In Overtime, the boys were able to take a big 54-51 win on the road to jump into 1st place in the district.
Prior to this game, the Varsity Boys played at the MT Rice tournament, competing against some of the highest level teams in the state. Highlights of the tournament for them included 2 victories on the last day, which included a 55-54 OT win over Waco High. The guys will have their first district home game of the season Friday against Dallas Shelton, JV Boys at 5:30, Varsity Boys at 6:30. Great job Guys!
