The Vanguard high school tennis team won the boys district championship Tuesday in San Marcos. Graham Gardner and Evan Mastin won the doubles championship with a 6-1, 6-3 finals win. Thomas Anderson and Kevin Tang placed 6th, after fighting their way into the consolation finals. Vanguard singles players, Trey Cofer and Davis Boehm faced each other in the finals of singles, with Trey pulling out the championship. The team plays Belton on Thursday at Waco Regional Tennis Center in preparation for state, April 10-11, also in Waco.
