The Vanguard High School Tennis Team played district opponent Live Oak Classical School at Waco Regional Tennis Center on Senior Night on Friday evening. Seniors recognized were Sarah Emerson, James Merchant, Ethan Marsh, and Karch Knoll. Playing in either singles or doubles, the Vikings competed well throughout the night. Wins were scored in doubles by Sarah Emerson/Grace Yoon, Avery Haynes/Courtney Wiethorn, KK Horner/Annabelle Reese, Ada Larsen/Maddie Hanley, Callie Williams/Bella Garzonie, James Merchant/Zach Henry, Ethan Marsh/Hyrum Blackwelder in two matches, and Seth Blackwelder/Carter Oates. Singles wins were scored by Karch Knoll, Seth Blackwelder, Luke Williams, David Wyche, Aldo Ibarra in two matches, Karissa Kuhl, and McKenna Lowry. The final score was Vikings 17 – Live Oak 0. The High School Tennis Team plays again Tuesday, March 16th, against China Spring High School. With a few more matches in front of them, the Vikings continue their march toward the District Tournament, which will be played on March 24th, and the State Tournament, April 8th -9th.
