The Vanguard High School Tennis Team won the TAPPS Team Tennis State Championship. It was the first time for a team championship in TAPPS History.
Six years ago there were no girls on the team. Today we won the inaugural TAPPS team state championship off the racquets of our girls. We played two boys singles and doubles and two girls singles and doubles and a mixed doubles. Each count for a team point.
We won Division II that included (in order of team victories):
Grace Prep – 4A
St Augustine, Laredo – 5A
Faith Christian, Grapevine – 5A
The Vanguard Vikings Tennis Team won the inaugural State Team Tennis Championship (Division II) defeating Faith Christian, Grapevine. The Vikings clinched the championship with wins by Zach Henry, James Merchant, and McKenna Lowery in singles, and the girls’ teams of Sarah Emerson/Grace Yoon and McKenna Lowery/Karissa Kuhl. The Vikings were the only 3A school in Division II with 4A and 5A school.
