The Vanguard High School Tennis Team played Robinson High School Varsity Tennis Team in what may be the first time in a varsity team match-up. In doubles, Karch Knoll and Evan Cole overcame a first set loss with a 6-0 second set and a 10-5 super breaker win. Karch Knoll, James Merchant, and Langston Wade scored wins in singles against the Rockets top three players. On the girls’ side, the Vikings played a tough, experienced, larger team and came close in a few of the matches. The team overall score was 4-11. Members of the High School Tennis Team play in the Corsicana Mertz Varsity tournament on Friday, February 15. The team plays last year TAPPS’ Class 4 champions (by one win over Vanguard) next week at Waco Regional Tennis Center. Fans are invited to cheer on the Vikings.
