Members of the Vanguard Tennis Team played in the Corsicana Spring Fling Varsity Tournament on Friday, February 26th. Courtney Weithorn and Avery Haynes won two hard-fought rounds in girls’ doubles. Grace Yoon and Seth Blackwelder won the mixed doubles consolation title. Ethan Marsh and Hyrum Blackwelder were finalists in boys’ doubles after two wins including a 2-hour battle in the semifinals. Karch Knoll won the boys’ singles championship, losing only a few games along the way. And James Merchant and Zach Henry won the boys’ doubles championship with three competitive wins. Karissa Kuhl and McKenna Lowrey competed well in the girls’ singles draw. The entire team used strategy, worked hard, and improved across the board. The High School Team will play Tyler All Saints in Corsicana on Monday, March 1st, and will play Live Oak Classical School on March 5th at Waco Regional Tennis Center. The TAPPS District Tournament will be held on March 24th in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
