The High School Tennis Team played TAPPS rivals the Tyler All Saints at the Mertz Tennis Center in Corsicana last night. Although the Vikings lost to the All Saints a year ago, 0-22, the Vikings started the match strong, going 5-3 in doubles. Wins were scored by Karch Knoll and Zach Henry, James Merchant and Ethan Marsh, Hyrum Blackwelder and Aldo Ibarra, Seth Blackwelder and Anthony Foti, and Karissa Kuhl and McKenna Lowrey, who fought back from a 0-5 deficit to win 8-5. The boys’ side gave up only 4 games between the four matches in doubles. In singles, wins were scored by Zach Henry, James Merchant, Ethan Marsh, Hyrum Blackwelder, Anthony Foti, Aldo Ibarra, Seth Blackwelder, Karissa Kuhl, and Addie Morris. Karissa Kuhl didn’t lose a game in singles and Anthony Foti didn’t lose a game in singles or doubles. The overall score was 14-7 in the Vikings’ first win over the formidable Tyler All Saints team. The next High School Tennis match is this Saturday against Groesbeck High School Varsity in Groesbeck.
