MS TENNIS The Vanguard Middle School Tennis Team played China Spring Junior High School on the China Spring High School tennis courts Thursday. The Vikings split doubles 2-2 with Karissa Kuhl and Elizabeth Johnson and Michelle Robles and Danae Simmons winning. Elizabeth, Michelle, and Danae were playing in their first matches. The Vikings held strong in singles. Zach Henry, Samuel Mach, Karrisa Kuhl, Elizabeth Johnson, and Danae Simmons won in singles, dropping only 5 games between them all. The final score was 7-5. The Middle School Tennis Team plays again next week on Tuesday against South Belton at Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness and on Thursday against Corsicana at Corsicana. Tennis is open to students who want to join after finishing their fall sports.
HS VB The High School Volleyball teams competed against TSD on Thursday night, in another district match up. The JV team was very close in both of their games but ended up dropping the match 2-0. The Varsity team was basically in the same boat, playing the top district ranked team close in each game, ultimately falling 3-0 in the match. The girls will be at home on Tuesday, for their final Home Game of the season, JV at 5:00 and Varsity at 6:00 pm, with Senior Recognition between the games. Please come out and show some support for the entire team and the 4 seniors in their final home game of the season.
MS FB The Middle School Football team faced off against St. Mary’s West for the second time this season Thursday night. The result was not what they wanted, but the guys played hard all night until the final whistle. Shakir Shawbaki returned an Interception for a score on a spectacular play for the games’ top highlight. The boys will close their season out next Thursday against the Centex Chargers.
