Academic Summer Camps

 Camps have a wide range of arts and academic subjects to choose from, and our Vanguard teachers,  and counselors are there every step of the way to make the learning fun!

Careful consideration goes into the planning of the summer camp schedule to ensure an enjoyable experience for all participants. 

Children from all schools are encouraged to attend .

All camps run from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon Monday- Thursday with a snack provided. 

  • Cost: $100 per child for camps not for MS or HS

     (Many of the sports camps are not running this summer because our gym will be under construction).

2023 Summer Camps

June Camps (You may check multiple camps)

FULL: Location: Bostick Room 2203. Instructor: Science, Mr. Connor McReynolds. ***Camp to be capped at 20 Campers. Young campers discover the joy of building models and structures. Students follow instructions that guide them with goal oriented building, with LEGO and other materials. They build several models during the week, each of which introduces them to different ideas. In the process they learn concepts in science. Students work and build hands-on models that move and learn to problem solve and make things work. Campers are introduced to a variety of science vocabulary and they learn how to apply them to the projects they are doing.
Location: Mayborn Room M6. Instructor: Award Winning Robotics Students. ***Camp to be capped at 10 Campers. Come and learn from the members of Vanguard’s award-winning robotics program in a student-lead camp to teach participants the entire process of building a robot and the importance of teamwork. This camp is for incoming 5th and 6th-grade students interested in STEM fields and have a passion for trying new things
Location: Bostick Cafe Instructor: Ms. Katie Kaga. ***Camp to be capped at 15 Campers. Arts and Crafts camps will get to experience many different styles of arts and crafts from painting, to sun catchers and reusable art. Please be sure and wear something you don’t mind getting paint on.
Location: Jaworski Music Room. June 5-8 (3-6 years old). Instructor: Faculty & Fine Arts Director, Mrs. Katie James. ***Camp to be capped at 15 Campers. Music is for everyone! This class helps toddlers and young children develop their aural and musical skills by singing, dancing, tapping, and rhyming. Additional activities include some art and story time. Intended for ages 3-6. Parents are welcome (but not required) to participate.
Location: Bostick Room2203. Instructor: Science, Mr. Connor McReynolds. ***Camp to be capped at 20 Campers. Do you love playing board games? Are you interested in playing new ones? Have you ever had a great board game idea and wanted to create your own? If you answered yes, then board game camp is for you! From Uno to Clue to Catan, this camp will have the game for you! You can also create your own game on your own or with friends! Come play with us!
Location: Brown Building Room 2111 ***Camp to be capped at 20 Campers. Come explore your creative side! Ms. Lieber will work with campers on using words in creative ways to open the imagination and to improve storytelling and writing skills. Students will write and workshop journals, short stories, poems, and more. On the last day of camp, parents are invited back for a reading showcase of campers’ work from the week!
Location: Jaworski Commons. Instructor: Fine Arts & Theatre , Mr. William Priest. ***Camp to be capped at 15 Campers. Have you always wanted to learn to sew but didn’t know where to start? Join this Introduction to Sewing camp to learn the basics of choosing fabrics, reading patterns, cutting pieces, and hand sewing. Materials are provided, and campers get to keep all the items they make!
Location: Bostick Cafe. June 13-17 (4-9 years old). Instructor: Ms. Katie Kaga. ***Camp to be capped at 15 Campers. This camp will be filled with bracelet making fun! From vintage friendship bracelets to loom bracelets and more!

Join this Introduction to Sewing camp to learn the basics of choosing fabrics, reading patterns, cutting pieces, and using sewing machines. Materials and sewing machines are provided, and campers get to keep all the items they make!
Location: Mayborn Room 2304. July 25-29 (8-12 years old). Instructor: Math Dept: Mrs. Katherine Weaver. ***Camp to be capped at 20 Campers. By playing number and logic games, exploring patterns and ciphers, and taking on building challenges, campers will build logical reasoning skills and foster curiosity, all while having a lot of creative fun.
Location: Bostick Room 2203. Instructor: Science, Mr. Connor McReynolds. ***Camp to be capped at 20 Campers. Young campers discover the greatness of Greek Mythology with Mr. McReynolds. His expertise in the subject will definitely come across in this camp, from the wonderful lectures to the images, and the crafts. This camp will not disappoint!
Location: Bostick Cafe. Instructor: Ms Katie Kaga. ***Camp to be capped at 15 Campers. Ms. Kaga will cover writing thank you notes, table etiquette, party and events, dancing, etc. This will be an informative and fun camp!

Location: Crestview Church of Christ 7129 Delhi Road Woodway, TX 76712 Instructor: High School Athletic Director, Scott Moe. **Shooting & Full Court Team Drills Camp for High School, Incoming 9th-12th grade.

The Basketball camps for boys, July 10-14 & July 17-21, are $125 per camp.

The undersigned parent/guardian of the Vanguard camper does hereby release and discharge the curators of Vanguard College Preparatory School and its representatives, employees, and agents from any and all debts, claims, demands, actions, damages, causes of action, judgments, or suits of any kind which may arise or be occasional as a result of the camper’s participation in the Vanguard Summer Camp programs and hereby agree to have and indemnify and hold harmless the curators of Vanguard College Preparatory School, its representatives, employees, and agents against any and all liability, claims, judgments, or demands for damages arising as a result of any course instruction given to the camper.
