Vanguard Viking Athletics

Over 60 Team State Titles

Athletics are not just focused on play, they are an essential part of a winning educational game plan that builds leadership and social skills for a lifetime.

The Vanguard athletic department is committed to providing everything students need to grow toward their full potential as athletes and as human beings.

Vanguard’s athletic department features a comprehensive physical education program, interscholastic athletics in Middle School for students in grades 7-8, and Upper School junior varsity and varsity sports that compete in the TAPPS 4A Competition.

 Vanguard has over 60 Team

State Titles

Participation in athletics is integral to the Vanguard experience.

Our student-athletes learn to win with humility, lose with grace, and compete with honor. While the Athletics Department offers many invaluable lessons, we have two primary aims in our department:

  1. To cultivate a team-first mentality

  2. To foster a competitive spirit

“At Vanguard College Preparatory School, we strive to produce young men and women who are prepared to take the next step in their lives when they leave the doors of the school.  Our student-athletes learn the values of discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork and leadership while participating in the eleven sports that we offer.  Our belief is that the lessons the kids learn on their athletic teams will translate into success in every phase of their lives.”

Athletic programs instruct students in the rules and skills of individuals, the team and life, producing increased mental acuity and focus. They provide physical training and outlets for energy and interests while creating opportunities for healthy competition and cooperation.

Principles of good sportsmanship and ethical behavior are instilled, along with a positive attitude toward healthy living and fitness. Athletic programs teach respect for other teams, officials, coaches and teammates.

The skills and lessons learned through winning and losing are irreplaceable. These values are acquired in an atmosphere where competition is balanced by the development of positive self-esteem of each student-athlete.

The Vanguard athletic program is designed to challenge and develop each student’s skills to the fullest.
