The High School Basketball teams were in action on Friday night, taking on cross town rival Reicher with the gym packed to capacity. The JV Boys started the action with a competitive game that swung back and forth. After falling behind early, the guys battled back and in the 3rd quarter, it started to change leads. The guys used a 12-5 4th quarter to put the game away, winning 35-29. Caleb Suchecki led the team in scoring with 9 points.
The Varsity Girls were next as this was their district home opener. Despite playing shorthanded, the girls rose to the challenge by battling the entire way through. Halle Harmon led the team with 8 points, while Rachel Merchant and Miriah Arthaud chipped in along the way to help the offensive effort.
The Varsity Boys closed the night, with a strong game that saw them grow the lead each quarter after trailing by 1 point at the end of the 1st. Despite the massive foul trouble, the boys responded by playing better and better each quarter, until they exploded for 23 in the 4th quarter on their way to a 66-42 win over the Cougars. Spencer Davis led the team with 18 points, while Braden Black and Kobe Thomas each added 11.
All of the teams are back in action on Friday as they travel to McKinney Christian for a big road district game.
